Hello everyone! My name is George Fu. I run Hilltop English Conversation School. I am also the head instructor as well. Let me tell you a little about myself.
After I graduated from University of California, Los Angeles ( UCLA ), I initially thought about becoming a dentist. Therefore, I took on more science courses after UCLA so that I could be accepted into a dental school. Dental school in the U.S. is 4 years. I had finished only 1 year. I realized that being a dentist was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Since I graduated with a degree in political science, I thought I would go to graduate school and teach at a university. But before doing so, I wanted to travel to Asia and work for a few years before going back to the U.S. to start my graduate school program. I came to Japan 14 years ago and so it goes without saying, the rest is history.

I came to Japan as an assistant English teacher. I was accepted and came on the JET PROGRAMME, which is a program sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Japan that hires native English speakers to teach English in elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools. I was placed in a town called Atsumi, which is now part of Tahara City. I was an AET in Atsumi for 2 years. After my stint in Atsumi, I came to Nishio and got a job at a English conversation school. I taught for 2 years and then became independent, thereby establishing my own English school. Just before I established my own school, I got married to Yuko. We met at the English conversation school which I was working at, while Yuko was working as a receptionist there.

After Yuko and I got married, we lived in Nishio for 2 years before we decided to move to where we are residing now, Anjo City. We have a lovely daughter, Erika. She is now 10 years old and goes to an elementary school near our home. We try to keep both an English and a Japanese-speaking environment in our home, where Yuko speaks Japanese and I speak English to Erika. Having a bilingual environment at our home has helped Erika to keep using both English and Japanese every day.

Hilltop English Conversation School is not a big school but it is growing each year. I am always thinking of new and better ideas or curriculum to make the school and myself better. No matter how good a teacher or school is, there is always, and I do mean always, a room for improvement.

こんにちは、皆さん。私はジョージ・フーです。ヒルトップ英会話学院の経営責任者で主任講師をしています。アメリカ合衆国のカリフォル二ア州、サンフランシスコ出身です。私はＵＣＬＡ（カリフォルニア州立大学ロサンゼルス校政治経済学部）を卒業しました。卒業後は歯科医になろうと思い、歯学部に入るために理系講座を専攻し再び勉強をしました。アメリカの歯学部は４年制ですが、私は１年で終了させることができました。その後、歯科医になるということが自分の生涯やりたいことではないと感じ、大学院でさらに勉強をして大学の教授になろうと思いました。しかし、その前にアジアに旅行に行き、そこで数年間働きたいと思い、１４年前に日本に来ました。

私は英語指導助手としてＪＥＴプログラムに採用され、日本に来ることになりました。ＪＥＴプログラムとは、小・中・高等学校で英語を教えるためにネイティブを採用する日本の文部科学省後援のプログラムです。私は渥美町（現在田原市）に配属され、そこで２年間AET（英語指導助手）を務めました。渥美町での勤務を終えて、西尾市に来ました。西尾市の英会話スクールで２年間勤務した後、自分の英会話教室をオープンさせました。英会話教室をオープンする少し前に、私は優子という女性と結婚をしました。私が西尾市で勤務していた英会話スクールで同じ時期に彼女は受付で働いていました。
結婚後、２年間は西尾市に住んでいましたが、現在は安城市に住んでいます。私たちには愛しい娘、恵梨華がいます。現在１２歳で中学校に通っています。家庭では、優子が日本語、私が英語を話し、恵梨華が英語と日本語の両方を話せる環境を作っています。

ヒルトップ英会話学院はまだ小さい教室ですが、少しずつ成長してきています。私は教室と自分自身の向上のためにも、新しく、良いアイディアやカリキュラムをいつも考えています。ヒルトップ英会話学院のホームページに訪れてくださりありがとうございました。私たちの教室で何が行われているか、これからも時々見に来てください。スタッフ一同お待ちしています。そして、早くあなたに会えることを楽しみにしています。
